My Cats Experience
Last Thursday I finally went to see Cats. It's back in Holland for a few months and I was lucky enough to get tickets on the fourth row. The evening didn't start well, cause we couldn't find a parking space and were forced to park miles away, which we had to walk back and off course we already were a bit late. Anyway I basicly ran to the theater and due to that we made it just in time. We were just in when it began. WOOOOW, I have no other words to describe how I was fealing during the overture. I've seen it on DVD hunderds of times, but this was so different, we were so close and everything was so real! Demeter went on stage and I immediatly knew it was almost exactly like the version on the DVD. The language I had to get used to. I know the songs so well in English and Dutch just doesn't do them justice, but everything else made up for it and soon enough the language didn't bother me any more. The Rum Tum Tugger was absolutely brilliant! He sat on the lap of the woman before me and petted the fur border of my coat which was laying on my lap (because I hadn't had the time to check it in). He was so funny, he was just like in the video, only he didn't like the kittens to touch him and he was totally checking Bombalurina out at the "...I only like what I find for myself..." Then came Grizabella who was played by a famous Dutch singer, with I think the best voice for the character out of all Dutch singers. Such power! I won't go into all the details of the musical, but I will say that I loved Griddlebone and Growltiger! I hate the fact that this wasn't on the DVD. Mr Mistoffelees, Rum Tum Tugger, Munkustrap and Skimbleshanks were so funny as pirates. Oh and our mr Mistoffelees was amazing. He danced so well and he acted so much like a cat. He sat in front of us all the time licking his paws and washing his fur and stuff. All the cats were all so well done and loveble! The only cat I missed was Etcetera, I love her on the DVD, but they left her out in Holland. Oh and Munkustrap was gorgeous, he's one of my new favorites now! By the way, during the pause (how do you call that) Old Deuteronomy stayed on stage and some people went to get his autograph (cause he's also a famous Dutch singer) and off course I went to get it to. See the picture of my ticket below!!! Yeah I was actually on the Cats-Stage! Woohoo! Anyhow, I totally loved the musical and will go and see it again next year. And if it ever comes back to Broadway or West End, I'll do anything to go and see it! Thanks for reading, lots of love... or meows! Oh and below are some pictures from my programbook, I scanned in! Enjoy!
